I'm Christine Parker, and I'm a freelance romance fiction editor and writer from Cleveland, Ohio.
As a voracious reader and aspiring romance novelist with a bachelors degree in Creative Writing, my unique skill set is particularly suited to editing romance fiction. I'm proficient in Chicago Manual of Style, the most widely used style guide in the fiction publishing industry, and recently completed my Editing Certificate through the University of Chicago Graham School.
My editorial expertise is in the romance genre. I’ve been reading romance since a high school friend handed me a copy of Stormfire by Christine Monson way back in 1999. Teenage Me read that book ragged under the covers. Grown Up Me has since moved on to less problematic stories, but I’ll always have a special place in my heart for that most WTF of bodice rippers. Some of my favorite authors include Tessa Dare, Eloisa James, Rebekah Weatherspoon, Helen Hoang, Georgette Heyer, Talia Hibbert, Julie Anne Long, Christina Lauren, Alyssa Cole, Courtney Milan, Penny Reid, and more.
I write romance too. In college I wrote a number of semi-erotic short stories that my workshop partners ripped to shreds. I’ve written essays analyzing Loretta Chase’s novels though a feminist lens and have studied the rich history of the Regency romance subgenre. I’m currently revising my first full-length contemporary romance novel which I hope to publish in 2020.
I'm an associate member of Romance Writers of America and the northeast Ohio local chapter, NEORWA, and will be attending my first RWA national conference in NYC in July 2019. I specialize in editing contemporary and historical romance ('cause those are my faves) but am no stranger to paranormal, new adult, romantic suspense, or other romance subgenres. I am comfortable editing all romantic "heat" levels, from sweet to spicy to smoking-hot erotica.
When I'm not obsessing over synonyms and syntax and steamy sex scenes, I like to knit shawls, hunt for ugly antiques, and get tattoos. I live in a mid-century ranch-style house in the suburbs with my husband and a couple of recalcitrant bulldogs.
